The Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council (AhRCC), has commissioned three new sanitation trucks in collaboration with waste management company Zoomlion Ghana Limited, to enhance environmental cleanliness and waste management across the region.
The ceremony took place on Monday, 4th August, 2025, at the forecourt of the Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council in Goaso. The event drew the participation of key stakeholders, including officials from RCC led by the Chief Director, Mr. Sampson Amoako Kwarteng, Officials from Zoomlion Ghana, members of the clergy, Party Executives, Environmental Health Officers and members of the media.
Accepting the items on behalf of the Ahafo Regional Minister, the Regional Political Coordinator, Mr. Iddrisu Dauda Loaman, expressed deep appreciation to Zoomlion Ghana Limited for its consistent support in improving sanitation infrastructure in the region. He emphasized that sanitation remains a critical area of concern in the government’s development agenda and reiterated the Regional Minister’s commitment to ensuring that the trucks are put to proper use.
He affirmed that the Hon. Regional Minister was highly committed to ensuring a clean and healthy environment for the people of Ahafo, noting that the trucks will both improve waste collection and also contribute to disease prevention thereby promoting general community
wellbeing.
Mr. Loaman, further urged the various Municipal and District Assemblies to ensure regular maintenance of the trucks and use them strictly for their intended purpose. He further encouraged communities to support the government’s sanitation efforts by maintaining cleanliness at the household and community levels.
Also present at the event was a Deputy Regional Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Ron Obeng Kwarteng, who lauded the collaborative efforts of AhRCC and Zoomlion. He noted that the trucks would greatly ease the burden of solid waste disposal and pledged their readiness to
coordinate the deployment and supervise their operational performance.
Also making remarks at the event was the Ahafo Regional Zoomlion Co-ordinator, Mr.
Maxwell Osei Antwi, who emphasized the value of the additional resources to the Region. He explained that the newly commissioned trucks were intended to serve as backup to support the existing fleet currently operating within the six districts of the region. He insisted that the truckswill enhance the company’s response to overflow situations, breakdowns or major clean-up exercises across the districts.
Mr. Antwi further assured that Zoomlion is committed to providing continuous technical support to ensure efficient use of the trucks. He also called on the assemblies to implement a regular maintenance regime to prolong the lifespan of the vehicles and maximize their
performance.
In his closing remarks, the Chief Director of the Ahafo RCC, Mr. Sampson Amoako Kwarteng, expressed profound gratitude to all partners and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the initiative. He reiterated the AhRCC’s commitment to prioritizing sanitation as a
development cornerstone in the region.
The highlight of his comment was when he stated that “Cleanliness is not just a health issue; it is a development issue. We are grateful for the support from Zoomlion and the leadership of
our Hon. Regional Minister. These trucks will go a long way to complement ongoing sanitation efforts. We encourage all districts to make the best use of them and involve communities in promoting a clean environment.” Mr. Kwarteng further appealed for continued collaboration between the private sector, local
government and the public to ensure sustainable sanitation practices across Ahafo.
The ceremony also featured a spiritual dedication, as Pastor Eric Hubert Acheampong, Resident Minister of PIWC Goaso, prayed over the vehicles. He asked for divine guidance and protection for those who will operate them and for the overall success of the region’s sanitation
efforts.
The event ended with a symbolic ribbon-cutting, the handover of keys, and a ceremonial inspection of the trucks by regional and district authorities. The presence of party supporters and community leaders underscored the importance of the initiative, which is seen as a key step toward achieving the goals of the Clean Ghana Campaign
