AHAFO REGIONAL MINISTER LAUNCHES EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS PROGRAMME FOR TVET STUDENTS

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner, has made a
groundbreaking move to bridge the gap between technical, vocational
education and training (TVET) as well as job readiness.

This took place on Tuesday, 8th July, 2025, when she launched the Employment Pathways Programme an initiative designed to equip TVET students with real-world work experience and long-term employment opportunities. Held at the Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council (AhRCC) Conference Room in Goaso, the event brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, education and civil society. From local TVET institutions and the Youth Employment Agency to private sector giants like Keda Ghana Ceramics (Twyford Tiles), the over-aching message was that the time to invest in practical youth empowerment was not to be delayed any further.

In her keynote address, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner described the programme as a strategic step towards tackling youth unemployment head-on. She noted that the government was not just interested in training students to be employable, but rather focused on preparing them to be gainfully employed in order to lead in their various fields of endeavour. According to her, the programme would offer final-year TVET students structured internships, industry mentorship and the chance to transition into full-time roles with partnering organizations.

Human Resource expert, Mr. Emmanuel Asigbey who is Keda Ghana’s HR
Manager, pledged internship slots and potential job offers to top-performing students. He insisted that the organisation was proud to open its factory doors to Ahafo’s skilled youth to contribute their quota to its development.

Youth advocate and Netherlands Fellow, Mr. Nelson Owusu Ntiamoah, called for international exposure as part of the bigger picture, urging students to prepare for opportunities both at home and abroad. He reminded the participants that today’s job market is global and thus called on the youth to be ready to compete beyond the borders of Ghana.
