His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making the necessary investments that will accelerate development in the Ahafo Region. The President, who visited the region on Saturday, 31st May, 2025, as part of his nationwide “Thank You Tour,” made major announcements to address deficits in critical areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, education and general economic growth. “We will not abandon projects that were begun by the past government. We’re here to finish what we started and to build what is needed. Governance is continuity,” the President affirmed.

A key highlight of the visit was President Mahama’s directive to the Ministry of Roads and Highways to urgently prioritise the completion of the Maban-Goaso Highway. Addressing a large gathering in Goaso, the regional capital, at a durbar of chiefs and people of the region, the President described the highway as a crucial economic link that, when completed, will significantly enhance trade, investment and mobility across the region.

In addition to this, the town roads in Goaso, Kenyasi and Acherensua would be upgraded to support urban growth and improve convenience to road users.
