CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA COMMISSIONS ULTRA-MODERN HIGH COURT COMPLEX IN GOASO

The Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana on Friday, 13th March, 2026, commissioned an ultramodern High Court complex at the High Court premises in Goaso in the Ahafo Region to enhance the delivery of justice and improve access to judicial services in the region. The ceremony attracted a large gathering of dignitaries and residents who witnessed the historic occasion. Delivering the welcome address, the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive for Asunafo North, Hon. Joseph Akparibo, warmly welcomed the Chief Justice, Justices of the Supreme Court, members of the judiciary, government officials, traditional authorities and all invited guests to Goaso for the commissioning of the ultra-modern High Court complex. He described the occasion as a significant milestone for the people of Asunafo North Municipality and the entire Ahafo Region, noting that the establishment of the High Court complex in Goaso would enhance access to justice and strengthen the rule of law. He expressed appreciation to the Judicial Service and the Government for prioritizing the development of judicial infrastructure and assured them of the Assembly’s support to ensure the proper use and maintenance of the facility.

Representatives of Nananom (traditional leaders) expressed their profound gratitude to the Chief Justice and the Judicial Service for commissioning the High Court complex. They described the facility as a significant development for the Ahafo Region and pledged their full support for the judiciary while urging residents to respect the rule of law. In addition, Nananom appealed to the Government to initiate more development projects, create job opportunities for the youth and establish a university in the Ahafo Region, emphasizing that such initiatives would complement the new High Court complex by promoting social stability, improving livelihoods and advancing educational opportunities for the people.
Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner, the Ahafo Regional Minister, on her part commended the Chief Justice and the Judicial Service for commissioning the ultra-modern High Court complex in Goaso. She described the facility as an achievement that would significantly enhance the delivery of justice in the region and reduce the challenges faced by residents who previously had to travel long distances to access judicial services. She emphasized that the commissioning of the High Court complex reflects the Government’s commitment improving public institutions across the region.
She urged judicial officers and staff to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in their work and assured the judiciary of the continuous support of the Regional Co ordinating Council and other local authorities to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the facility.

In his address, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, expressed his delight at commissioning the ultra-modern High Court complex in Goaso, describing
it as a landmark development for the judiciary and the people of the Ahafo Region. He highlighted that the facility is part of the Judicial Service’s broader efforts to expand and modernize court
infrastructure across the country to ensure timely and efficient dispensation of justice.

The Chief Justice emphasized that the new High Court complex would provide judges, magistrates, lawyers and court staff with a conducive working environment, equipped with modern courtrooms
and administrative facilities. He noted that the establishment of such a facility in Goaso would significantly reduce delays in case adjudication, improve access to justice for residents, and
strengthen public confidence in the judicial system. His Lordship further called on judicial officers and staff to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and dedication, stressing that the success of the facility depends on the commitment of all who will operate within it.

The commissioning ceremony featured the cutting of the tape and unveiling of a commemorative plaque by the Chief Justice, symbolizing the official opening of the High Court complex and marking a historic milestone in the administration of justice in the Ahafo Region. The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including Justices of the Supreme Court, judges and magistrates from the Ahafo Region, the Ahafo Regional Minister, Municipal and District Chief Executives, members of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), traditional authorities, representatives of the Ghana Bar Association, heads of decentralized departments, students, imams, court officials and members of the general public. The new High Court complex is expected to improve the administration of justice in the Ahafo Region by providing modern courtrooms, offices and other essential facilities needed for efficient judicial work, thereby strengthening the rule of law in the region.
