AHAFO REGIONAL MINISTER CUTS SOD FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF AHAFO COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES IN KENYASI

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner, on Monday 2ndMarch 2026, performed the sod-cutting ceremony for the commencement of construction of the Ahafo College of Health Sciences at Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the region’s efforts to expand access to quality tertiary education and strengthen healthcare delivery.

The ceremony, which brought together traditional authorities, regional and district heads of department, health professionals, the media and members of the public, signaled the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality tertiary education and addressing the shortage of health professionals in the region and beyond Delivering the welcome address, the District Chief Executive for Asutifi North District Assembly, Hon. Hafiz Dabeil Dauda, expressed appreciation to the Regional Minister, traditional authorities, development
partners, government officials, and all invited guests for honoring the occasion. He described the project as a historic development for the district and the Ahafo Region, noting that it reflects government’s commitment to improving healthcare training and human resource development. He further emphasized that the College would create employment opportunities, stimulate local businesses and contribute to socioeconomic development in Kenyasi and its surrounding communities.
Speaking on behalf of Nananom, Nana Kwabena Ofori Acheampong, Kyidomhene of the Kenyasi No. 1 Traditional Council, expressed profound gratitude to the government and the Regional Minister for bringing such an important project to the area. He stated that the Traditional Council considers the establishment of the College a major achievement that will uplift the educational standards of the community and create lasting opportunities for the youth. He assured that Nananom would continue to support the successful implementation of the project to ensure its timely completion. Nana Kwabena Ofori Acheampong further appealed to the contractor to execute the work with diligence, professionalism and high-quality standards.

He urged all stakeholders and community members to maintain peace to ensure smooth progress of the project. The Member of Parliament for Asutifi North Constituency, Hon. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, commended the government and the Ahafo Regional Minister for initiating the construction of the Ahafo College of Health Sciences. He noted that the College would create opportunities for the youth and improve access to health training within the region. The MP assured stakeholders of his continued support and urged the community to co-operate to ensure the timely completion of the project.In her address, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner described the construction of the Ahafo College of Health Sciences as part of government’s broader agenda to strengthen the health sector through education and capacity building. She emphasized that quality healthcare delivery depends on well-trained professionals and noted that the institution would help address the shortage of health personnel in the region and the country at large. The Regional Minister also highlighted several development projects that have been undertaken in the region and announced that plans are far advanced for the construction of a university project within Kenyasi, which will further enhance higher education in the area. She expressed optimism that these initiatives would transform Kenyasi into an important educational hub in the region.

The Minister urged all stakeholders to support the smooth execution of the project and expressed confidence that upon completion, the Ahafo College of Health Sciences would significantly enhance healthcare training and contribute to improved service delivery in Ghana. Representatives of the contracting firms engaged for the project which include; Clean Vision Construction, Hazaline Limited, Zeman Projects Limited, Berekum Graceland Company Limited, and Asare-AB Company Limited expressed their appreciation to the government and stakeholders for the opportunity to execute the project. They assured the Ahafo Regional Minister, traditional authorities, and the people of Kenyasi of their commitment to delivering quality work within the stipulated twelve (12) months period.

They indicated that the project comprises hostel blocks, a lecture hall complex, a storey classroom block, an administration block, a library block, an auditorium, residences for the Principal and Vice-Principal, a three-storey two-bedroom staff flat, and a sick bay. The contractors pledged to adhere strictly to the approved designs and specifications to ensure the delivery of a modern and functional health training institution.
