The Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council (AhRCC) has taken delivery of 200 Lenovo laptops from the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) to support digital skills development and the implementation of the Government Flagship One Million Coders Programme in the region.
The items were officially handed over on Wednesday, 29th April, 2026, at the forecourt of the Regional Coordinating Council, in line with Government’s broader digital transformation agenda aimed at equipping public institutions with modern technology to enhance service delivery and promote digital inclusion. Presenting the laptops on behalf of GIFEC, the Ahafo Regional Director, Mr. Appiah Boateng, reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to expanding access to digital tools and bridging the digital divide across the country.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner, the Acting Regional Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Joseph Frimpong Naayo, expressed profound appreciation to the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, as well as the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, for the timely intervention.
Mr. Naayo noted that the support would significantly strengthen digital capacity within the region, particularly within the public sector. He indicated that the laptops would be distributed across the various Municipal and District Assemblies to enhance administrative efficiency and facilitate the effective rollout of the government flagship One Million Coders Programme.
He further emphasized that the initiative is expected to equip both young people and public sector workers with essential digital and coding skills, thereby fostering innovation, promoting job creation and improving overall service delivery. The donation marks a significant milestone in the Ahafo Region’s digital development efforts and underscores Government’s commitment to building a technologically empowered and inclusive society.
