The Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council on Tuesday February 25, 2025 held its 4th quarter 2024 Regional planning Co-ordinating Unit (RPCU) meeting in Goaso as stated in the Local Government Act, ACT 936 at the AhRCC Conference Hall.
The meeting commenced with a welcome address by the Chief Director, Mr Sampson Amoako Kwarteng. He thanked all heads of institution, Agencies and departments for honouring the invitation. Mr. Kwarteng underscored the importance of periodic meetings by all heads of institutions in the region. He noted that integration of all sectors into the functions of the RCC was necessary to achieved a co-ordinated development in the region. He indicated that the expanded meetings would be a regular feature. He observed that the RCC was satisfied so far with the general output of all the Departments, Agencies and Services and thus encouraged them to keep up the good work they were doing for the region and Ghana as a whole.
Mr Jacob Adade Ntiamoah, Regional Economic Planning Officer gave a general overview of the meeting. According to him, the purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the performance of the various departments for the year 2024. He added that the expansion of the scope of the meeting to include other sectors of the public service who are not members of the RPCU to participate in the deliberation was to ensure that diverse expertise and perspectives were brought to bare on the discussions of the entire regional performance.
The meeting was centred on three thematic areas which included:
a. 2024 Annual performance reports,
b. update on all government awarded projects since 2024 and
c. presentation of 2024 4th quarter monitoring and evaluation observations.

Furthermore, Mr. Ntiamoah highlighted the mandate and functions of the Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council for the benefit of the new members at the meeting. He stated that the core function of the AhRCC was to ensure management and development of the region. The new members had the opportunity to know the legal basis for the establishment of the RPCU and how it functions.
Some selected departments were given the floor to make presentations on their 4th quarter activities which generated questions for deliberations. Useful ideas were shared leading to a resolution by all to incorporate innovativeness and creativity into their operations.
In attendance were Heads from Ghana Education Service, Department of Agriculture, Department of Feeder Roads, Department of Urban Roads, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority, Ghana Statistical Service, Internal Audit Unit of the AhRCC, Veterinary Services Department, Ghana Tourism Authority, Human Resource Department AhRCC, National Sports Authority, National Youth Authority, Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, Budget Unit, Parks and Gardens, Department of Social Welfare, Information Services Department, Community Water and Sanitation Agency and Department of Children among others.
