AHAFO REGIONAL MINISTER, HON. CHARITY GARDINER HOLDS MAIDEN THANKSGIVING SERVICE

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, in collaboration with the Regional Co-ordinating Council, Local Council of Churches, the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, political parties, and other religious organizations, held the maiden Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, 2nd March 2025 at Kenyasi No. 1 in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region, Ghana.


The non-denominational thanksgiving programme brought together hundreds of people from various faiths and religious backgrounds to express gratitude for a peaceful electioneering season. The ceremony also provided an opportunity for Hon. Charity Gardiner to thank Almighty God for her appointment as Regional Minister and for guiding her through the process of vetting, approval, swearing-in, and assumption of office. The event featured praise and worship sessions in acknowledgement of God’s goodness, grace and mercies.

In her address, Hon. Charity Gardiner acknowledged the dedicated efforts of hardworking party executives and members across the region, whose contributions helped bring the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into power. She also expressed appreciation to Nananom and religious leaders for their warm reception and assurance of support during her courtesy visits and engagements.
She commended her predecessor, Hon. George Boakye, for ensuring a smooth transition process and for his guidance in helping her settle into her new role.
Hon. Charity Gardiner emphasized her commitment to lobby for developmental projects that will enhance the region’s infrastructure and progress. She also underscored the important role of women in nation-building, stating that empowering women and girls remains one of her key priorities. She highlighted policy initiatives by the NDC government aimed at ensuring women reach their full potential, such as the establishment of the proposed Women’s Development Bank, the Youth in Apprenticeship programme, the flagship 24 Hour Economy initiative among others.

The Regional Minister assured the gathering of her dedication to making the Ahafo Region one of the best investment destinations in Ghana by providing effective political leadership to drive the much sought-after development.
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Yaw Okyere, a Member of the Council of State, urged the people of Ahafo to remain united regardless of political affiliations to achieve the region’s common goal of development. He stressed that unity is essential for promoting infrastructural, social, economic, and cultural progress.
Dignitaries in attendance included: Mr. Sampson Amoako Kwarteng, Chief Director, DCOP James Annor, Regional Police Commander, Regional Heads of Departments, Municipal/District Co-ordinating Directors, Staff of AhRCC, Members of the Clergy and Imams, Nananom (Traditional Leaders), Political Party Executives, Security Personnel, Members of the Media, The General Public.
