President John Dramani Mahama, together with the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs Charity Gardiner, has led a two-day project inspection and commissioning tour in the Ahafo Region as part of the Regional Accountability Series held on October 9 and 10, 2026.
The two-day programme aimed to assess the progress of ongoing development projects, commission completed facilities, engage citizens on government policies and programmes, and evaluate the impact of development interventions on the lives of the people in the region.
During the tour, the President and the Regional Minister visited several project sites across the region, including the ongoing meat and poultry processing factory at Bechem, the Farmers Service Centre at Nkrankrom in the Asunafo North Municipality, and the Tepa–Goaso Road project.
Other projects inspected included Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, the Yeredua Project, and the Ntotroso Bridge, among other development initiatives across the region.
A major highlight of the tour was the commissioning of the Bureau of National Intelligence (BNI) Regional Office in Goaso, an initiative expected to strengthen the agency’s operational capacity and support its mandate of gathering intelligence to promote national security.
The programme also featured a citizens’ engagement with President John Dramani Mahama, providing an opportunity for residents to interact directly with the President, express their concerns, share their development priorities, and seek clarification on government policies and programmes. The engagement served as a platform for dialogue between the government and the people, reinforcing the importance of public participation in the national development process.
The programme brought together government officials, traditional authorities (Nananom), Members of Parliament, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), heads of government departments and agencies, security personnel, political party representatives, opinion leaders, community representatives, and other stakeholders from across the Ahafo Region. Their participation underscored the importance of collaboration, public engagement, and collective responsibility in promoting development and accountability in the region.
The project inspections provided an opportunity for the President, the Regional Minister, and other government officials to assess the progress of work, identify challenges affecting project implementation, and explore measures to ensure the timely completion of ongoing projects.
The various initiatives form part of broader efforts to improve road infrastructure, strengthen healthcare delivery, promote agriculture and agro-processing, create employment opportunities, enhance national security, and improve access to essential services for communities across the Ahafo Region.
The Regional Accountability Series serves as a platform for the government to account to citizens on development projects, monitor implementation, and promote transparency and accountability in the use of public resources.
The two-day tour reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing development in the Ahafo Region through strategic investments in infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, security, and other critical sectors, while providing opportunities for citizens to participate in discussions on the region’s development priorities.
The Information Services Department (ISD), Ahafo Region, provided live coverage of activities during the Regional Accountability Series to keep the public informed about the President’s visit, project inspections, commissioning activities, and citizens’ engagement.
