As part of the 2025 Mother’s Day celebrations, the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner, marked the occasion with a series of compassionate and community-focused visits on Sunday, 11th May 2025.

Being the first female Regional Minister since the creation of the Ahafo Region in 2019, Hon. Gardiner chose to celebrate this special day by extending love and support to some of the most vulnerable members of society.
Her first stop was the St. John of God Hospital in Duayaw Nkwanta, where she interacted with patients in both the pediatric and maternity wards. Her visit was a tribute to the vital role mothers and healthcare professionals play in the community. She presented a range of hospital supplies to support the hospital’s operations. The donation was warmly received by the Medical Superintendent, who expressed deep appreciation for her thoughtful and kind gesture.

Later in the day, the Hon. Regional Minister visited the Kenyasi Prisons, where she engaged with inmates giving them a message of hope, rehabilitation and second chances. She encouraged them to remain hopeful and committed to positive reformation. To support their welfare, she donated assorted food items to the facility.

These Mother’s Day engagements reflect Hon. Gardiner’s empathy as a mother figure as well as her inclusive leadership style and unwavering commitment to community welfare. Her actions reinforced the values of compassion, care and resilience which are qualities that define motherhood and true public service.
