AHAFO REGIONAL MINISTER PARTICIPATES IN THE SOD-CUTTING CEREMONY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PALACE FOR THE ACHERENSUA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner, on Monday, April 6, 2026, participated in the sodcutting ceremony for the construction of a Palace for the Acherensua Traditional Council at Acherensua in the Ahafo Region, marking a significant milestone in strengthening traditional leadership and promoting development in the area.

The colourful ceremony brought together chiefs, queen mothers, assembly members, opinion leaders, Imams, Christian Clergy and a cross-section of residents of Acherensua, who gathered in their numbers to witness the historic occasion.

In her remarks, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner emphasized the vital role of traditional authorities in governance and development. She noted that chiefs remain key partners in promoting peace, unity and socio-economic progress in the region. According to her, the construction of a befitting palace for the Omanhene and the Traditional Councilwill not only preserve the rich cultural heritage of the people but also provide a dignified space for traditional administration and community engagement.

The Queen Mother of the Acherensua Traditional Council, Nana Mintaa Yeboah II, speaking on behalf of Nananom, expressed appreciation to the Regional Minister and government for their continuous support. She highlighted the importance of the palace project in strengthening traditional governance, preserving cultural heritage and promoting unity and development within the Acherensua Traditional Area. The ceremony was marked by traditional rites, pouring of libation, traditional and other religious prayers as well as the official turning of the sod to signify the commencement of construction works. When completed, the
Acherensua Palace is expected to stand as a lasting legacy that reflects the heritage, authority and aspirations of the Acherensua Traditional Area.
