The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs. Charity Gardiner has called for unity among Assembly Members as well as the citizens of the Ahafo Region as a catalyst to propel the development of the Region.
She made these remarks when she took turns to witness the special Assembly Meetings convened by the various Municipal/District Assemblies to confirm His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana’s nominees to the positions of Municipal/District Chief Executives in the region.

His Excellency the President of the Republic has in accordance with Article 243
(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act 2016, (Act 936) (as amended) nominated eligible persons to the positions of Hon. Municipal/District Chief Executive in the Ahafo Region. This important Constitutional exercise requires prior approval of the respective Assemblies.
Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner expressed the appreciation of the government to the Assembly Members for their show of support as evidenced in the turnouts. She underscored the relevance of the confirmation exercise as an expression of confidence in the judgement of the President to make the nominations which would in turn be met with good faith in the distribution of the national cake equitably.
The Hon. Regional Minister noted that the successful confirmation of the nominees should mark the beginning of a new chapter of collaboration, hard work and visionary leadership in the various Assemblies. She emphasized that the development agenda of the Ahafo Region can only be realized through a collective effort by all stakeholders, particularly Hon. Assembly Members, traditional leaders and the general citizenry.

Hon. (Mrs.) Gardiner further encouraged the newly confirmed Municipal and District Chief Executives to see their appointments as a call to dedicated service rather than an opportunity for personal gain. She urged them to work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in them by both the President and the people they have been chosen to serve.
She also reminded them of the importance of transparency, accountability and inclusivity in governance, adding that these principles are essential for fostering trust and achieving sustainable development in their respective jurisdictions.
In concluding her remarks, the Hon. Regional Minister pledged the unwavering support of the Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council to the Assemblies and their Chief Executives and reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to accelerate the progress and transformation of the Ahafo Region.

The special meetings, which were characterized by enthusiastic participation from Assembly Members, traditional authorities and members of the public, ended on a positive note with all the nominees of His Excellency the President receiving overwhelming endorsement to assume their new roles.
