ORGANISED LABOUR PAYS COURTESY CALL ON AHAFO RCC AHEAD OF MAY DAY 2025

A delegation from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and Organised Labour paid a courtesy call on the Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) on Tuesday, 8th April, 2025, to officially inform the Council about the upcoming Workers’ Day of Solidarity celebration, popularly known as May Day.
The three (3)-member delegation was warmly received and welcomed by the Chief Director of the RCC, Mr. Sampson Amoako Kwarteng, who stood in on behalf of the Ahafo Regional Minister.
Led by Mr. Francis N. Danyipe, the delegation also included Ms. Beatrice Boadu and Ms. Hannah Ocran. In his remarks, Mr. Danyipe expressed profound appreciation to the RCC for its continued support to workers across the region. He highlighted the RCC’s instrumental role in maintaining industrial harmony, noting that its efforts have been pivotal in fostering a productive and peaceful working environment.
He further commended the Council for its responsiveness to the needs of Organised Labour and expressed optimism that the strong partnership would continue to thrive, to the ultimate benefit of workers’ welfare and development in the region. He ended his remarks by throwing a kind invitation to the Hon. Regional Minister, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner to grace the event and deliver a solidarity message.
In response, Chief Director Mr. Sampson Amoako Kwarteng conveyed the RCC’s appreciation for the visit. He thanked them for the kind invitation extended to the Hon. Regional Minister to attend this year’s May Day celebrations, which are scheduled to be held in Sunyani on Thursday, 1st May, 2025.
Mr. Kwarteng also proposed that future hosting rights for the annual celebration be rotated fairly among regions, to promote inclusivity and shared ownership of the regional event.
