HON. CHARITY GARDINER, AHAFO REGIONAL MINISTER, PAYS COURTESY CALL ON THE TURKISH AMBASSADOR TO GHANA

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, has urged investors from Turkey to consider bringing direct investments into the Ahafo Region to support key sectors such as agriculture, stone mining (quarrying), tourism, and industrial processing. She made this call during an official visit to H.E. Huseyin Gungor, the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, on Friday, March 14, 2025, in Accra.
Hon. Gardiner highlighted that Ahafo is predominantly an agrarian region, with a significant portion of the population engaged in agriculture. The region produces various crops, including cocoa, cashew, cassava, plantain, rice, yam, tomatoes, ginger, and coconut. She emphasized that any investment in this sector would yield substantial benefits. Furthermore, she noted that Ahafo contributes significantly to the country’s timber production but lacks the necessary infrastructure to develop the full value chain and maximize the use of timber industry by-products.
As part of her long-term vision for the region, Hon. Gardiner expressed her commitment to initiating the construction of the Ahafo Regional Hospital and the Ahafo Regional Medical University of Science and Technology before the end of her tenure. She called on investors and donor partners to support the region in infrastructure development, which would contribute to socioeconomic growth, wealth creation, and poverty reduction.

In response, H.E. Huseyin Gungor congratulated Hon. Charity Gardiner on her appointment and wished her success in her new role. He acknowledged Ghana as a valuable partner, with existing collaborations on various international platforms. The Ambassador pledged his unwavering support and continuous cooperation, particularly in alignment with Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy initiative aimed at job creation, accountability, and economic prosperity.
The Hon. Regional Minister was accompanied by the Chief Director, Mr. Sampson Amoako Kwarteng, the Regional Development Planning Officer, Mr. Jacob Ntiamoah, and Dr. Divine Gabriel Brefo, the External Relations Officer.
