OFFICIALS OF IRC PAY COURTESY CALL ON HON. CHARITY GARDINER, AHAFO REGIONAL MINISTER

On Thursday, 13th March 2025, the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, hosted officials from IRC Ghana, led by its Country Director, Mrs. Vida Duti, when they paid a courtesy call on her at her office at the Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council, Goaso.

The IRC team took the opportunity to congratulate Hon. Gardiner on her appointment as Regional Minister and briefed her on the ongoing implementation of the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Master Plan by the Municipal and District Assemblies in the region. The officials also highlighted that IRC Ghana had received a grant from the Conrad Hilton Foundation to provide technical assistance to the government. This grant aims to strengthen safe water policies and regulations in the Ahafo Region and at the national level over the next three years (2025-2027).
According to Mrs. Duti, the grant will support the six districts in the region to implement their WASH plans, with the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) coordinating the efforts to ensure that water is safe, reliable, and accessible to all. At the national level, the grant will enable the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) to utilize new planning guidelines to roll out WASH planning in other districts across Ghana.
The IRC, an international think tank and do-tank, collaborates with national and local government institutions, NGOs, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders worldwide to find long-term solutions to global water, sanitation, and hygiene challenges.
In response, Hon. Gardiner expressed her appreciation for the continued support of IRC and its partners. She acknowledged that this support has significantly contributed to improvements in WASH service delivery in the region. The Hon. Regional Minister assured the officials of her commitment to working closely with them to further consolidate the progress made and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration.
