THE SOUTH AFRICAN HIGH COMMISSIONER TO GHANA, HER EXCELLENCY GRACE JEANET MASON PAID A COURTESY CALL ON THE REGIONAL MINISTER HON. GEORGE BOAKYE AND THE AHAFO REGION AS A WHOLE.

On June 27, 2022. Her Excellency Grace Jeanet Mason, South Africa’s High Commissioner to Ghana, paid a courtesy call on the Ahafo Regional Minister and the Ahafo Region as a whole. This is part of her two-day tour of the region.

The Regional Minister, Hon. George Boakye, the Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Ebenezer Amoah, and the entire management and staff were present in the RCC conference room. Her Excellency Grace Mason spoke about the South African-Ghana bilateral relationship. She went on to speak about the region’s beautiful landscape as she travelled by road to appreciate the region’s natural resources.

In addition, she discussed her main goal for the tour, which is to personally experience the natural resources, which will help her speak with investment firms in South Africa when she returns. Her key areas of interest included entrepreneurship, skills, exchange programs such as culture and women’s and youth empowerment.

Following her presentation, the Regional Economic Planning Officer also gave a presentation highlighting some of the region’s key potentials and investment opportunities, urging the High Commissioner to consider the region’s endowed resources and seize the opportunities.

The High Commissioner duly acknowledged the beautiful landscape and resources available in his response and promises to do her best for the region.

 

 

 

Following the RCC program, the High Commissioner paid a visit to the Omanhene of Goaso Traditional Council. The Omanhene acknowledged the High Commissioner’s presence and stated that she is the only woman as High Commissioner he has met since his enstolment. He also asked for support in the areas of health in the region, as well as to take advantage of a large land as an investment opportunity for a shopping mall. The High Commissioner also discussed Ghana’s and South Africa’s existing relationship. She went on to discuss some key areas of investment interest, such as transportation, culture, education, women, youth empowerment, and others.

 

Later in the day the High Commissioner again paid a visit to the Goaso Government. There, she spoke with the hospital administrator and some key staff members about the condition of the hospital. After that, she paid a personal visit to certain wards of the hospital, such as, women’s ward, children’s ward, and surgical ward. Immediately after the hospital tour Her Excellency Jeanet Mason went to the old station to see the land property which the Omanhene had urged her to bring invests to setup a shopping mall.

 

 

 

On the second day of the tour, the high commissioner, again visited other key places such as Kenyasi I and II, Fawohoyeden Vocational and Technical Institute, Kukuom Traditional Council and Health center, Ntotroso Traditional Council and Ntotroso Midwifery. There, she promised incubators to the health centers and again the Regional Minister also assured the Vocational and Technical Institute new Sewing machines to curb their challenges. Her tour ended with a dinner with the Regional Minister, management and some key staff of the RCC.
