VISIT OF THE AHAFO REGIONAL MINISTER TO B.E.C.E CENTRES IN THE REGION

The Hon. Ahafo Regional Minister. Hon (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner on 16th June, 2025 embarked on a monitoring exercise of selected Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) centres within the Ahafo Region.The purpose of the visit was to motivate and encourage candidates, inspect the conduct of the exams and assure stakeholders of the government commitment to quality education at all levels.
She was accompanied by the Chief Director, Mr. Sampson Amoako Kwarteng, officers from the Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council, the Ahafo Regional Director of Education, Mr. Abraham Fletcher and other officials from the Regional Education Directorate.

The monitoring team visited the following B.E.C.E centres;
– Ahafoman B.E.C.E centre
– Kasapin B.E.C.E centre
– Gambia NO 2 B.E.C.E centre
At each centre, the Regional Minister and her team were warmly received by the examination supervisors, invigilators, teachers and students.

Hon. Minister encouraged the candidates to remain calm, confident and
focused during the examination period. She emphasised the importance of self-belief and preparation and urged them not to panic but to trust in the knowledge they have acquired.


She assured the candidates that the NDC government was committed to
improving school infrastructure across the region. According to the Hon.Minister, by the time the candidates receive their results, they should expect to return to improved school facilities that will enhance their learning experience.

 

The Hon. Minister also used the opportunity to announce the Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council’s foundation for supporting brilliant but needy students in the region. She highlighted that students who excel in the B.E.C.E but face financial challenges would be identified and assisted through this initiative. In one of the centres, a student named Christabel Pokuaa Amofa confidently told the Hon. Regional Minister that she was aiming to secure Grade 1 in six (6) or more subject areas in honour of the Regional Minister’s visits.

The Hon.Minister commended her courage and enthusiasm. The Hon. Minister directed the Chief Director to track Christabel’s performance for potential support from the Regional Co-ordinating Council’s education foundation.

In another centre, The Hon. Regional Minister expressed deep admiration for a physical challenged candidate, (leper) who despite her physical disability was determined to write the exams using both of her hands to hold the pen. The Minister personally assured her of moral and material support encouraging her to remain steadfast and dedicated to her academic journey.

The monitoring exercise was successful and impactful. The presence of the Hon. Regional Minister and her team brought great encouragement and motivation to candidates, teachers and exam officials. Her massage of confidence, commitment to infrastructure development and support for underprivileged yet brilliant students were well received.
The visit reaffirmed the Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating council’s dedication to educational excellence and inclusiveness, as well as it’s resolve to invest in theyouth of the region.

At the end of the exercise the following recommendations were made.
• The Regional Co-ordinating Council and Ghana Education Service
should continue such engagement to boost morals during national
examinations.
• A follow-up mechanism should be put in place to monitor candidates
identified for support.
• Immediate attention should be given to infrastructure challenges raised during the visit to fulfil the Hon. Regional Ministers assurance.
