AHAFO REGIONAL MINISTER HOSTS NATIONAL AMBULANCE SERVICE DURING COURTESY VISIT

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. (Mrs.) Charity Gardiner, on Friday, 4th April, 2025, warmly received the Regional Officer and staff of the National Ambulance Service at the Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council in Goaso, as part of efforts to strengthen ties between the Ambulance Service and the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council.
Leading the delegation to visit the Hon. Regional Minister was Principal Advance Emergency Medical Technician (PAEMT) Azudaa Raymond Atandigre, who congratulated the Minister on her appointment and expressed confidence in her leadership to advance the region’s development agenda. He praised the Regional Minister for her openness and willingness to collaborate for the betterment of emergency healthcare in the region.


During the engagement, PAEMT Atandigre provided insight into the operations of the Service from 2020 to 2024, noting the variety of critical cases they responded to, including Road Traffic Accidents, Maternal Emergencies, Medical Conditions, Trauma, and Industrial Accidents.
According to him, over the period a total of 616, 696, 614, 449 and 547 cases were recorded in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 respectively.


Despite these significant efforts, he raised concerns about persistent challenges such as inadequate office space at ambulance stations and the urgent need for additional stations to enhance emergency response times across the region.
In her remarks, Hon. (Mrs.) Gardiner thanked the team for their unwavering dedication to saving lives and assured them of her support to continue in this light. She noted that the Chiefs and people of the Ahafo Region deeply appreciated the invaluable work being done by the National Ambulance Service.
She acknowledged the challenges facing the Service and reiterated her commitment to working towards solutions that will enhance their operational capacity. The Regional Minister also expressed optimism that under the current administration, led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Service would receive the needed support to fulfill its mandate effectively.
The visit ended with renewed assurances of collaboration and support between the Ahafo RCC and the National Ambulance Service, aimed at strengthening emergency healthcare delivery across the region.
